Routine eye exams, glasses, and contact lenses are often covered under vision plans provided by employers or purchased separately. In contrast, medical insurance may apply when you’re seen for eye-related conditions such as dry eye, cataracts, glaucoma, or issues linked to diabetes or high blood pressure. In these cases, your medical insurance will be billed for your exam, even if a vision plan is also active.
