Our Topcon 3D OCT (optical coherence tomography) is the latest, most advanced technology to view and analyze the retina. Similar to ultrasound, OCT uses light rather than sound waves. More advanced than retinal photography (which can only view the surface of the retina) the OCT enables us to view the individual layers of the retina. The scan is non-invasive, painless, simple and quick.
The scan the OCT provides is so detailed that it can pick up the very earliest signs of glaucoma - damage to the microscopic nerve fibers in the back of your eye. This makes it possible to pick up glaucoma before it affects your sight, and indeed before it is detectable using more traditional techniques. This makes OCT the definitive screening tool currently available for this condition.
The OCT provides us with highly useful information about several areas of your eye and retina. For example, it is capable of detecting small areas of swelling that can occur at the back of your eye in macular degeneration, as well as small retinal holes, tears or cysts that may be present and not visible with traditional techniques.
We are proud to announce that we carry Ovvo Line of Titanium lightweight and very strong frames.
Dr Mirkin is pleased to announce that Mirkin Vision has acquired the Advanced GDx or Glaucoma Diagnosis Instrument. This cool laser based instrument quickly and efficiently scans the optic nerve and compares the results to a database of normal and glaucoma patients. The results give a quick score as to the glaucoma risk being high or low and helps determine if more testing is needed or not.
We are now featuring a limited edition of Sospiri eyewear both in the office and available for purchase on this website. The Sospiri collection represents Ottica Veneta's signature luxury line of optical and sun wear. From the mountains of northeastern Italy's Veneto region, Sospiri was inspired as a tribute to the Venetian maestros of old and those craftsmen who follow the same artisanal methods today.
Through a rich intertwining of elegance and innovation, Sospiri frames are defined by their superior use of Austrian crystals, light metals, Italian acetates and unique artistic embellishments. With guarantee that 100% of its frame, case and accessory production stay in Italy, Sospiri and Ottica Veneta are committed to using time-honored methods to create the most untraditional of models.
Sospiri is exclusively sold to a select number of fine opticians and boutiques from its U.S. headquarters throughout the world, with major distribution channels in North America, Asia, Eastern & Western Europe and the Middle East.
